Welcome to the Oxford AHSN Innovation Exchange
The Innovation Exchange is an AHSN coordinated approach to identify, select and support the adoption of innovations that improve our economy and patients’ lives.
Current Call - Artifical Intelligence Call
The Oxford AHSN Strategic and Industry Partnerships team aims to help innovators develop their value proposition, business model and evidence base to enhance their chances of developing products that are likely to be adopted by the NHS.
If you would like to work with us to develop this, please enter your innovation to our Innovation Exchange. You will first need to register for an account, once registered on the system you will be prompted to provide comprehensive information on your innovation proposal.
The UK government has recently pledged £250m for the NHS to invest in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The aim is to provide AI solutions that will transform care and reduce waiting times.
The projects being developed, including an AI lab, could potentially help to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the NHS. According to the Department of Health this includes identifying patients at highest risk of dementia or heart disease, improving cancer screening and automating admin tasks thus freeing up clinicians to spend more time with patients.
For example, AI is already being used in some hospitals to predict cancer survival rates and identify those patients least likely to attend their appointments and generating a reminder message for these patients.
Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care said: "We are on the cusp of a huge health tech revolution that could transform patient experience by making the NHS a truly predictive, preventive and personalised health and care service. I am determined to bring the benefits of technology to patients and staff, so the impact of our NHS Long Term Plan and this immediate, multimillion-pound cash injection are felt by all. It's part of our mission to make the NHS the best it can be."
The Oxford AHSN is looking for market ready AI innovations, and would especially like to see innovations that meet the following criteria –
Innovations that ensure patients are in the right place with access to the right diagnostics for a diagnosis
Innovations that help manage challenges around A&E, and outpatient demand management
Innovations that assist in meeting and delivering gold-standard diagnostic standards
Innovations that address challenges around radiologists or oncologists’ workloads
